General Public - G Job Duties The Farm Assistant/Interpreter will assist in the responsibilities for the daily care of the Frontier Culture Museum's various animals, as well as the maintenance of gardens, field crops, and general plant care.
Duties include assisting management and other staff with the following; observation and inspection of animals, reporting of any health concerns to management, maintaining a schedule of feeding, pasture rotation, paddock maintenance, training/socialization, and health checks, as well as keeping relevant records of the animals, starting seeds for historic plant varieties, weeding, planting, watering, fertilizing, and harvesting crops, seed collection and storage, pruning and propagation of plants, pest identification and control, and researching appropriate plant varieties and historic agricultural practices.
This position also includes a limited amount of work as an interpreter, speaking to the regular public and school groups about the history of the animals and plants as needed.
The position is a 1500 hour a year (average 29 hours a week) wage position which does not carry benefits.
Minimum Qualifications Experience gardening and safely working with livestock required.
Must be dependable, mature, and possess positive people and customer service skills.
The successful candidate should be able to work in outdoor and farm site environments in all weather conditions, walk significant distances in excess of 2 miles daily, be able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted, and participate in vigorous farm work on a daily basis.
Ability to wear full historic period costume as directed.
Must possess high school diploma or GED.
Additional Considerations Experience training and providing basic care to livestock, managing and working gardens and fields, and using hand tools and operating a variety of farm equipment is preferred.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
