Western State Hospital (WSH) is the state of art psychiatric hospitals operating since 1828 under Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services.
WSH is 302-bed Joint Commission accredited facility located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley within 30-minutes of major university towns and is affiliated with the University of Virginia-Department of Psychiatric Medicine and provides a training ground for professionals from other colleges and universities in the fields of nursing, social work, psychology, and activities therapy.
Responsibilities:
Execute comprehensive transaction analysis and database input which includes keying all transactions in Human Resources (HR) databases - Cardinal Human Capital Management System (Cardinal-HRCM), HR Hospital Operating System (HOPS-HR), and Kronos including new hires, transfers, terminations, etc.
upon receipt of Employee Action Notices (613s).
Responsible for new hire onboarding/sign-ups to include ensuring all required paperwork is completed accurately/legibly, verification of I-9 employment eligibility and data entry into the E-Verify system ensuring legal requirements are met, fingerprinting, ID photo, drug screening, and collection of COVID vaccination cards.
Assists with scheduling interviews and preparing Payroll Action Worksheets (PAWs) and Salary Compensation Requests.
The Transactions Analyst will ensure that all employment references, licenses, and educational requirements are met upon hire in conjunction with the recruitment staff.
Creating and maintaining employee files is an essential part of this position.
Will run reports and audit service for Tenure Recognition ceremonies.
Performs daily Cardinal/HOPS synchronization and research/correct any discrepancies.
Provides backup support in keying benefit information in benefits transactions.
Provides technical and analytical duties in all human resources areas.
Serves as back-up to Benefits/Disability Analyst in at least one of the functional areas of VSDP short term disability/long term disability, workers compensation, and leave management.
Functions as a team member to provide assistance and guidance in all areas of HR services necessary to meet the needs of the facility and employees at both WSH and CCCA.
As systems, job duties and structure change, this position may act as a generalist.

Minimum Qualifications - Working knowledge of human resources management policies, procedures, principles, laws, and regulations.
- Strong data entry skills, attention to detail, and experience with HR software systems and document management system.
- Ability to multitask while staying extremely organized to ensure proficiency with meeting deadlines is essential.
- Ability to work independently and as a team.
Demonstrated experience and ability using critical thinking skills to analyze data and present conclusions.
- Proficiency in use of computers, software applications, databases, web-based applications, and MS Office products.
Ability to apply and interpret personnel policies and guidelines.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships communicate effectively, with all levels of managers and employees, orally and in writing to achieve departmental mission objectives.
Additional Considerations - Graduation from a college or university with course work in Human Resources Administration or related field is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge and abilities that may substitute for education.
- Previous Human Resources experience and database experience keying transactions in COVA databases (Cardinal-HCM, HOPS-HR, and Kronos) preferred.
